You don’t need to be on your health journey for very long before people think you’ve gone a little crazy…
It happened to me yesterday.
Labor Day weekend BBQ at my neighbor’s house.
The signs were all there.
The 4 bunless beef patties on my plate…
My polite decline of the potato salad (seed oils)…
And my reckless embrace of the hot afternoon sun.
The neighbors:

Steve walks over, Diet Coke in hand…
“Doug, I gotta ask… you’re one of those health nuts, aren’t you?”
The way he said it – half joking, half genuinely curious.
“I see you doing pushups in your garden at 6 AM. I’ve seen the amount of meat you buy. And didn’t someone tell me you sell those organ pills?”
Everyone was listening now.
Now I wasn’t gonna’ lie to the guy. I like Steve.
So I told him “Yeah Steve, I’m one of those ‘health nuts’.
He laughs. “I knew it. So what’s the deal? You really think all this stuff matters?”
I look at him. Then at his Diet Coke. Then back at him.
“Steve, you’re 42 and you told me last month you can barely keep up with your 8-year-old at the park.”
He nods.
“I’m 39 and I feel better than I did at 29. So yeah… I think it matters.”
The whole group goes quiet.
“Look, I’m not trying to convert anyone. But when ‘normal’ eating makes people tired, sick, and dependent on medication… maybe ‘crazy’ is worth a shot.”
Steve stares at his soda for a second.
“Fair point.”
And that was it. Conversation shifted to football 🤣
So yeah, maybe we Radical Health Seekers are a little “crazy”.
But in a world where “normal” means sick and tired… crazy is the only sane response.

P.S. Steve’s going to crack. The ones who ask questions like that always do.
